The axolotl has the unique ability of being able to regenerate its brain in response to injury. It can even regenerate several of the neurons that were present in the brain before the injury was inflicted on the axolotl. The newly regenerated neurons can even posses electrophysiological properties and process inputs in a similar manner to neurons native to an uninjured brain.
